The vignette and the street scene

Over the last year or so I have been experimenting with watercolour and pencil (or pen) vignettes. In all but one of the works below I have focussed on painting only that part of the scene which drew me to the image in the first place, and in the pictures of York, Carcassonne and Lodeve I have started on a new series of busy street scenes where I have only partially painted the people often leaving just the spaces the people occupy unpainted. By executing these paintings in this way I feel that I have faithfully portrayed the scene without placing too much stress on the people.

I’m pleased with them. Let me know what you think!
