Tasmania Painting Trip

I am just back from Tasmania where we had few days painting and holidaying with 11 other members of the Rangiora Art Society.

We’ve had a really good time starting with a really hot day in Hobart which is a pretty attractive harbour city, a bit like Wellington only much smaller. We did a lot of walking in our day and a half there and at the end of the day drove the group to the top of Mt Wellington which looms 1270m above the town, really interesting because at the top you are in an alpine environment with truly amazing 360 degree views.

We next spent 3 nights in Port Arthur which is on a peninsular south east of Hobart, very remote with great coastal scenery and the Historic convict site which was enormous and very interesting.

Next we moved up the east coast to Bicheno where we spent the next few nights before driving to Launceston and flying home.

Lots of sketches have been worked on along with a few paintings. Most of my work has been done fairly quickly and I’m not enormously pleased with it but here are a few pics.
