Paulette and I have had three great days since leaving London. On Friday we picked up a diesel Ford Fiesta (55mpg average so far) and, only getting slightly off course, headed to Windsor for a look before taking the M4 to Bath where we had a good wander around before retiring to our bed and breakfast.
Yesterday I made a quick sketch near the Pulteney bridge before taking an hour long boat cruise on the Avon, and while I’ve managed a couple of ten minute sketches It’s taken me until today to get a slightly bigger one done. On our way north we stopped at Chepstow castle which I last visited in 1974.
Last night we stayed at Symmonds Yat, a famous beauty spot on the Wye river, and dined with an ex workmate of Paulette and her husband.
This morning, after a smoked haddock breakfast we climbed Symmonds Yat rock for the great views before heading to Hay on Wye where I completed this sketch and we took in the amazing second hand book shops.
Tonight we are at Pembroke where we wandered around the outside of the castle before dinner.
